AT&T Emerging Voices | CHIKA

Program Overview 

In continuing the AT&T Emerging Voices platform, we’re inspiring music fans to look at the next generation of diverse artists with a different perspective. AT&T worked closely with up and coming artist, CHIKA, to create her dream show. This was also the first time CHIKA was able to perform her hit “Once Upon A Time” EP in front of an audience since the pandemic. To play into the fairy tale thematic of her EP, AT&T created a magical, intimate, garden party experience for 150+ of her fans that gave fans the feeling of stepping into a storybook. The concert was also streamed live from CHIKA’S IG as well as AT&T’s YouTube. Fans in attendance were treated to CHIKA inspired cocktails, a magic mirror photo op, and an immersive Sunset Room that brought CHIKA’s notebook  to life with massive rear projection screens featuring her animated lyrics and doodles and other custom CHIKA content.

My Role

Working closely with CHIKA herself, I strategized and designed a space that would bring her lyrics to life. I partnered with a set designer to create a lush garden incorporating life size flowers, and colorful projections onto rented live foliage. We mixed these materials with digital executions that brought illustrations from CHIKA’s tablet to life on floor to cieling projection screens. I collaborated with a motion graphic artist to create three different animations that synced with her most popular songs. In addition to the projections, we executed a photo op using a full length mirror that CHIKA’s illustrations became digital stickers for fans to overlay on their photos. No small detail was overseen as we had custom brand ambassador outfits along with custom mixology menu using CHIKA’s favorite ingredients.
